Digital Traffic Systems, Inc. (DTS) Launches New Initiative – Mobile Traffic Data Collection

March 10, 2008 – In response to customer needs, DTS is pleased to announce that it has successfully launched an enhanced service to augment its current offering of traffic data services. In the Fall of 2007, DTS commenced providing a service to deliver traffic data directly to its public and private customers through the use of mobile traffic data collection platforms. These rapidly deployable mobile traffic data platforms allow DTS to provide the customer with traffic data information through customized reports with sensors that are installed on customized, traffic data platforms. DTS offers alternate cost models and pricing wherein the customer is provided with traffic data on demand and for specific use rather than a customer owning, managing and maintaining their own local assets. These mobile units can be deployed quickly for traffic data collection including freeways and high traffic areas, and a definite advantage is they generally do not require maintenance of traffic and are not fixed at a site and as such can be moved as needed to gather the best data for the customer. Other advantages include: remote access via the internet, and being able to provide specialized counts. These units can also be used for site evaluation to determine if a fixed, permanent site should be installed at a specific location. The applications for this type of mobile traffic data collection service are wide ranging; from departments of transportation to private firms as well as engineering firms.
